ESG Strategy

At Deimos Group, we are embarking on our journey toward greater sustainability and commitment to embrace responsible practices throughout every dimension of our operations. Though in its early stages, our goal is to make sustainability a fundamental pillar of our business.

In collaboration with our consulting Partners specialized in Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) compliance, we are developing a structured roadmap to meet evolving regulatory requirements and align with global best practices. This year, we are focusing on key milestones:

  • Double Materiality Assessment (DMA): We evaluate the impact of our activities on the environment and society as well as the influence of ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) factors on our business operations.
  • Development of our ESG action plan: We define our priorities to guide our long-term strategy.

Following the model structured for us by our external consultants, our work will include:

  • Assessment of our ESG positioning against industry benchmarks.
  • Identification of strengths and areas of improvement.
  • Definition of a strategic plan for sustainability.

In 2025, we will publish our first voluntary Sustainability Report, focusing on our activities in Italy. This will lay the groundwork for a Group Consolidated Report in 2026 that will encompass all activities, including our daughter companies, PALCONutrifit and Log2Go. These reports will not only outline our goals, but also provide a transparent view of our progress towards responsible and inclusive growth.

As part of this journey, we are integrating sustainability into our supply chain, operations, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring that all our efforts translate into tangible impacts. At Deimos, we believe that sustainability is not just a goal but a continuous pursuit of innovation and improvement.

Our ESG Assessment: Understanding and Improving Our Impact

We recently conducted an ESG Assessment of our company, in cooperation with Cerved Rating Agency, a leading ESG rating agency authorized by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). This analysis has provided us with a comprehensive baseline to evaluate our current sustainability performance, identify key strengths, and clarify areas requiring improvement.

Key Recommendations and our Next Steps

The assessment yielded several actionable recommendations, and we have already initiated projects to address some of them:

Implementation of Modello 231

We are introducing Modello 231, a compliance program that companies can voluntarily adopt to prevent corporate crimes, protect corporate reputation, manage risks and ensure regulatory compliance. The model provides detailed procedures designed to prevent specific offenses under Legislative Decree 231/2001.

Supplier Sustainability Assessment

We are working to integrate sustainability criteria into our supplier validation and evaluation process, managed through our Salesforce CRM. This will allow us to identify and collaborate with Partners who align with our values and sustainability goals. As part of this approach, we are conducting an internal analysis of our key suppliers to deepen our understanding of our supply network and identify priority areas for monitoring and engagement. This preliminary work will help us refine our approach and lay the groundwork for a future supply chain mapping project, in collaboration with external Partners.

Employee Training and Development

To promote the professional growth of our team, we have established partnerships that offer our employees the opportunity to participate in training courses on key competences and other skills that are crucial for their professional development.

Philanthropy and Community Involvement

In December 2024, Deimos supported the IEO-MONZINO ETS Foundation through the charity initiative “Natale Ricercato”, allocating funds for research into cancer and cardiovascular diseases at the European Institute of Oncology and the Monzino Cardiology Centre in Milan.

Our ESG Scores and Insights

While Deimos Group is only at the beginning of its ESG journey, the company starts from a promising overall ESG score of 54/100 (segment average of 61/100). The ESG assessment provided a clear snapshot of where we stand today and where we need to focus our efforts.

Environment (59/100)0%

Our environmental score provides us a solid starting point for improvement. The assessment, completed at the end of 2024, has provided valuable insights into areas where we can enhance our performance, like the implementation of photovoltaic panels on the roof of our warehouse. While this project requires further planning, we are optimistic about its potential to significantly reduce our energy consumption. Parallelly, we are actively developing a plan to reduce our use of plastics across operations. These initiatives are only the start of making meaningful changes that will positively impact our environmental footprint in the long term.

Social (56/100)0%

Our social score highlights strong foundations, such as a commitment to diversity and robust employee protection policies. To build on these strengths, we are actively expanding opportunities for employee development. Through our partnership with EbiTer, we are giving employees access to a wide range of professional training programs, aimed at enhancing their digital, language and business skills. These initiatives aim to support both personal and professional growth.

Governance (44/100)0%

Our governance score reflects the need to bolster our practices, particularly in transparency and accountability. To address this, we have established a Sustainability Committee comprising a diverse group of leaders, including the CFO, Marketing Manager, Logistics Manager, COO, R&D Food Manager, and Nutra Business Unit Manager. This committee is guided by the Sustainability Manager, who ensures that all discussions and decisions reflect a holistic and balanced approach to sustainability.

This committee is tasked with steering our sustainability roadmap and monitoring the implementation of key initiatives such as Modello 231. Together, this diverse team ensures that our sustainability efforts are aligned with our business goals and resonate across all areas of the company.
